To say the last 6 months have been "turbulent" (excuse the pun) would be an understatement. Our beloved national airline Air Vanuatu has unfortunately taken its last flight.
The positives of this are that some of the big aviation players are now going to take over the main routes to Vanuatu from Australia and New Zealand. Its about time!!!
Starting 10 September, Qantas will fly three services per week from Brisbane to Port Vila, with the capacity for up to five based on demand, while Jetstar will begin up to four weekly flights from Sydney to Port Vila on 12 December.
Virgin Australia has been awarded an extra 1,304 seats per week between Australia and Vanuatu, which will allow it to operate an extra seven flights per week using its 737 fleet.
Our Kiwi friends will be able to get fishing again with us on Nambas with regular flights being provided by #Solomonairlines
The schedule will commence from 27 May, anticipating twice-weekly flights between Honiara, Port Vila and Auckland from 1 July.
IE710 will operate from Port Vila to Auckland on Mondays at 5:50pm arriving in Auckland at 10:05pm, and IE711 will depart Auckland on Tuesdays at 12pm, arriving in Port Vila 2:15pm.
Ultimately once all these flights are available you will have more choices than ever and there should be some great deals to be had.
